The wedding policy of the First Baptist Church is based on the authority of the scriptures as disclosed in our Constitution page twelve and adopted January 24th 2016 Annual meeting.

Our policy on marriage ceremonies are based  on our inerrant Word of God with it alone standing as the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. And our beliefs and agreements as a Church that Christians should live to Glorify God! 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21 and 1 Corinthians 10:31.

OUR FELLOWSHIP HOME

Our denominational affiliation: First Baptist of Hordville, NE is part of Converge Baptist denomination, previously known as the Baptist General Conference and has a district relationship with other churches in a four-state area our district headquarters located in Sioux Falls, SD. Cooperating with them in the mission of the Lord as written in Matthew 28.

FBC originally was organized as a Swedish Baptist Church and many speaking Swedish in the church in the year of 1878 in Hamilton County Nebraska. It of course in transition moved to be an English-speaking body but remains committed to the basic belief in the Bible, the need for conversion by receiving Jesus as Savior and Lord, and the Baptist belief about baptism itself.

The church celebrated its one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary on June 22, 2003 and plans to continue until the Lord sounds the trumpet and calls all those believing in Him home.

What about baptism?
What is the meaning of Baptism?
It illustrates Christ’s burial and His resurrection from the grave Colossians 2:12
Who should be baptized?
Scripture teaches that everyone who has believed in Christ should be baptized. If you are a follower of Jesus, but have never been baptized, then you should follow the Lord in doing so, Acts 2:41
When should you be baptized?
Scripture tells us that baptism is the first step of obedience after becoming a follower of Jesus and should be done as soon as possible, Acts 8:35-38.

MEMBERSHIP AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH

Becoming at member of First Baptist Church means becoming a part of the spiritual family here and joining with us on the most important journey you may ever take. This can become a reality, and if you choose to join with FBC as a member you will be fulfilling a command that every believer should become a part of a Christ honoring fellowship.

YOU NEED A SPIRITUAL FAMILY!

The need for healthy relationships are a part of God’s plan, Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 ‘two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work; if one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the one who falls and has no one to help him up!’

YOU NEED A PLACE TO USE THE GIFTS GOD HAS GIVEN YOU!

I Timothy 4:14 ‘do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given you..’

NEED FOR A PLACE TO GROW SPIRITUALLY

Acts 2:42 ‘they joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, sharing in the breaking of bread and prayer.’

BECOMING A PART OF SOMETHING GREATER THAN YOURSELF!

Romans 12:4-5 ‘ just as each of us has one bod with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each members belongs to all the others.’

Hebrews 10:25 ‘let us not give us meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another…’

God’s Plan of Salvation
Planned before the world was created!

Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Proclaimed to the disciples so they could know Him!
John 14:6 (NIV) — 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No

Romans 10:9–10 (NIV) — 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and
believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For
it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth
that you profess your faith and are saved.
Romans 10:13 (NIV) — 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will
be saved.”
